The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division issued a proposed rule to update which white collar workers are exempt from the FLSA’s protections. The proposed rule is intended to update the salary level required for the white collar FLSA exemption ($455/week increases to $970/week for 2016) and to simplify the identification of nonexempt employees.

At this time, the rule is only proposed. There will be a comment period and possible changes before the rule is finalized.
